How did the study come about? Axel: Michael and I met in engineering school. At the time, he was working as a freelancer for many large French companies and was also looking for a new challenge. I suggested the idea of working together and we got our first client. At that point, we knew we needed a name that people wouldn’t forget. We needed something that represented our quest for perfection, symbolizing precision, the conductor leading the orchestra. We came up with a few names, and “Maestrooo” was the perfect one. Maestrooo immediately made people think of the director. The driver who directs the project. What Do We Understand by Research?
Maestrooo with a single “o” was already an existing brand. Maestrooo with two “o” is pronounced “Maesrou” in English. So, we ended up adding three “o’s”, which reminded us of Dribbble. Initially, we weren’t working with Shopify or any eCommerce projects. We specialize in custom back-end development, using only the Zend Framework, because Michael, the other Maestrooo co-founder, is one of the few major contributors. He is also a member of the Zend Framework Advisory Board and a Zend Expert PHP instructor. And one day, by sheer chance, we took a look at Shopify. We immediately thought that it would be great for us to invest time in this technology. As time went on, we realized the power and flexibility of this platform, its extensibility, and what could be achieved without having to deal with all the complex security maintenance and server administration.
